WHO WE ARE

We are the Key West Parrot Head Club, Inc., a dedicated group of phriends connected through the tropical spirit of Jimmy Buffett's music, writings, and dedication to community.  Our purpose is to bring together like minded folk to promote phriendships and organize social activities for phun and charity.  Together, our keen awareness of community, social, and environmental concerns has driven us to help make our community a better place.

The Key West Parrot Head Club, Inc is a Not For Profit Corporation, fully chartered and officially recognized by Parrot Heads In Paradise, Inc., the oversight organization for all Parrot Head Clubs around the world. 

Founded in 1998, we continue to support our mission of ‘Party With a Purpose’ through our monthly and annual events, raising money and donations for the charities of Key West and Monroe County. Our commitment is to leave things a little better than we found them - and have a BLAST while doing it.

WHAT WE DO

We typically meet for our monthly Club Phlockings at various establishments around the island on the third Wednesday of the month. At these Phlockings, a short business meeting is held to update the Club on the latest news, a raffle is conducted to raise money for the Club’s charities with prizes, and we HAVE PHUN connecting with current and new members!

June Phlocking

Groove Lounge at the Bottle Cap | Wednesday, June 19 | 6-8 PM

The June Phlocking will kick off at 6 PM and extend through 8 PM, with our business meeting and raffle drawing at approximately 7:30. We will be selling raffle tickets for a basket and assorted goodies. Please come out and support our 2013 Key West Parrot Head Club Charities as we Party with a Purpose!

On Wednesday, May 15 the Key West Parrot Head Club held its monthly Phlocking at the Sunset Tiki Bar. A special thank you to the Galleon Resort and Sunset Tiki Bar for hosting us and to Clint for providing a great mix of music for our party. We raised $265 for our Charities while enjoying another magnificent sunset.

Thank you for all that attended and we hope you had a great time, helping us to Party with a Purpose!

Welcome to OUR Island Party

As you are aware, this year's Welcome to OUR Island Party will be held at the Smokin' Tuna. We've expanded the party, with our Silent Auction beginning on Sunday, October 27. While this will provide us with greater opportunity to raise money for our Charities, it also will require more help from each of you to make it happen.

We have set up an online volunteer list, so please check it out below and volunteer your time.

2013 Key West Parrot Head Club Charities

This year, the Key West Parrot Head Club Board of Directors is taking a different approach with the Charities and Donations our Club raises and distributes to the Monroe County community, with the goal to provide greater monies to the groups that need our support. 

All of the money raised at the Phlockings and events of the Key West Parrot Head Club in 2013 will be collected into a single account. We will then distribute the donations to the various groups twice during the year, at our June and December Phlockings. The selected charities for 2013 are as follows:

Bahama Village Music Program
free music lessons to children aged 6 to 16

Big G Music Scholarship
scholarship to deserving Key West High School students pursuing a degree in music

Boys and Girls Club of Key West
after school and summer education to help young people reach their full potential

Dolphin Research Center
rescue and rehabilitation of marine mammals in distress

Domestic Abuse Shelter of the Florida Keys
providing services to those experiencing domestic and sexual abuse in Monroe County

Florida Keys SPCA
protection of abandoned, unwanted, or mistreated animals

Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition
provides resources and support to parents and infants for a successful pregnancy and healthy start in life

MARC House
care to adults in Monroe County with developmental disabilities

Safe Harbour Animal Rescue of the Keys (SHARK)
raise awareness and provide solutions to unwanted and neglected animals in the Middle Keys

Samuel’s House
housing and care for homeless men, women, women with children, and families

The Turtle Hospital
dedicated to the rehabilitation, education, research, and environmental legislation for Sea Turtles in the Keys

Wesley House - Backpack for Kids Program
healthy kid-friendly meals for low-income children during weekends and holidays

We have committed a minimum of $500 to each charity.  Our hope is that the Club will collect greater amounts of money than in past years, allowing us to provide even greater support to our Community.  You're continued support is paramount to making this happen.

Smokin' Tuna | Wednesday, October 30 | 2-8 PM

Working to get a jump on the Meeting of the Minds events for 2013, the Key West Parrot Head Club is finalizing details for this years Welcome to OUR Island Party.  We will continue to roll out details of the event, but we are happy to announce that, in connection with the Smokin' Tuna Saloon, the 2013 Key West Parrot Head Club Welcome to OUR Island Party will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at the Smokin' Tuna!  We look forward to the exciting opportunity this new venue presents to us and are happy to have Charlie and the Smokin' Tuna as our partner in the Club's largest annual effort.

Tampa Bay Music on the Bay

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club and their upcoming contribution to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Their successful Music on the Bay event raised $25,000 for charity!

Meeting of the Minds 2013

Hello again Parrot Heads!! It's time to talk about Meeting of the Minds as the days are clicking by, the weather is getting warmer, and if you are like me you are already booking your vacation travel for the year. If the IRS was good to you it may be time to use some of those tax refunds to travel to Key West this year! Hey if the IRS was tough on you this year it is still a good idea to book your travel to Key West this year!

I want to remind everyone that we have the entire Coral Reefer Band and alumni coming down this year to fill 12 hours of music on the big stage!! They will also be playing with other bands during the event so you need to keep your hand on a cold beverage and stay close to the stages all during our 5 day event. All day and all night the special music will flow and I believe you won't need your event shirt afterwards to remind you that you attended "Bring Back the Magic, Meeting of the Minds 2013." This might just be your best music value of the entire concert season…Oh more on that event logo in an upcoming email – Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner in the logo contest!! Now…Speaking of Magic…Howard Livingston!! Howard and his Mile Marker 24 Band will be on hand for the MOTM Opening Ceremonies Thursday night on the big stage at the Casa Marina. He has a new hit from his latest cd, "Six Pack and a Tan." The song is called "Still Some Magic in Key West." You will hear this one for sure at Meeting of the Minds on our stage.
